July PCC “Snippets”
* Ken Dowell has volunteered to attend the Tormohun Partnership meetings to represent the interests of our church and its relations with the wider community in this important local forum.
* The matter of the recipient for this year’s Patronal Festival gifts was brought to the PCC. It was agreed that as last year the total gift would be sent to the Lees in China.
* A reminder was given that the PCC made a resolution a year ago to get the right musical balance in our services. A new Worship Committee will be operating soon and it was promised that these concerns would be addressed.
* Rev. David Witchell is stepping down as Rural Dean from the end of July after many years in the post. He has been very supportive to this church particularly in times of Interregnum and the Churchwardens and PCC have valued and appreciated his assistance. The installation of Rev. Gilly Maude as the new Rural Dean will take place at 6pm on Sunday 19th July at St. Georges Church, Goodrington. Jim & Edwina Corderoy will attend on behalf of the church.
* Sadly, Margaret Baker is stepping down as Ladies Link chairman. As this is not a PCC appointment it was suggested that an advert be placed in New Life, and to allow Margaret the opportunity to publicise the vacancy on a Sunday morning, and pray that the right person be found to carry on the work.
* A recent communication from Bishop Michael was read out and the PCC’s attention was drawn to a paragraph explaining the process of prioritisation for churches in a vacancy. It was agreed that we meet all the criteria listed and should be in a strong position for the vacancy to be filled. So let’s keep praying that the vacancy will soon be filled.
